Salt Lake City Temple Square Christmas LightsWednesday, January 14, 2009 Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah is a magical sight in the holiday season when it is extensively decorated with Christmas lights. Several city blocks are transformed each year with Christmas lights to help celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Temple Square is home of the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Temple Square also is home to one of the original temples constructed by the Latter Day Saints. The temple located in Salt Lake City was constructed entirely of granite that was hand quarried and carried by ox cart and train more than 20 miles to the Temple site. The temple was finished in 1892 and took over 40 years to construct. Capturing these photographs was a cold prospect but the sight of Temple Square is amazing, and I hope that you enjoy them. |
